I don't know the name of this film (from the 80's or 90's, comedy)?

It's about a guy who is inspired by some stuntman, or something like
that. He gets funding and near the end or middle of the film he or
someone else makes a movie about his stunts and it's shown in the
cinema and everyone laughs at him and he gets upset and lbah blah.
From what I remember he likes this ginger/ red haired woman who
already has a boyfriend I presume.
Anyone know this film? I think it was made in the 80's as it had some
80's music in it.
